The Women’s Nike Waffle Racer Crater “Barely Volt” is a women’s exclusive colorway of the Space Hippie inspired low-top silhouette. Introduced in 2020, Nike’s “Space Hippie” collection featured several modern footwear designs cast from sustainable materials known as “Space Waste Yarn” and “space junk,” which consisted of reusable content including recycled plastic, T-shirts, and leftover scraps from Nike’s cutting room floor. As for the styling and composition of the Waffle Racer Crater, the silhouette is reminiscent of the LDWaffle created by Japanese high fashion brand sacai in collaboration with Nike. The nylon upper is finished off in a head-turning Barely Volt hue. A contrasting fluorescent pink Swoosh resides on the mid-panel and light grey suede panels appear on the forefoot and heel. A tan overlay on either side of the neon green tongue conceals the model’s eyelets. The classic “Nike” branding on the beige leather heel tab mimics the retro styling of the detailing found on the Nike Waffle Racer. Elsewhere, the multicolor speckled grey midsole is composed of Nike’s eco-friendly Grind material. The outsole features the “space junk” motif found on many Space Hippie models.
