The Pharrell x adidas Stan Smith “Black Future” is a December 2020 collaboration between the Grammy Award winning music artist and adidas. Inspired by Pharrell’s Time Magazine essay “We Deserve a Black Future,” the “Black Future” capsule consists of timeless adidas silhouettes in all-black colorways that are designed to embrace the past and have an open mind toward the future. Here, supple black leather forms the base of the upper, appearing on the mid-panel, toe, collar, and heel. The Stan Smith’s traditional dotted Three Stripes branding on either side is rearranged in a triangle motif for the “Black Future” collection. Elsewhere, black rope laces with white speckling sit atop the black leather tongue and dual Pharrell and adidas detailing appears on the dark grey leather heel tab.
