The adidas Racing 1 Prototype was originally designed in the '70s, but did not release until 2016. The runner is inspired by Formula 1 racing. It sports a black mesh upper with various leather and suede overlays. A textured rubber tongue and plastic eyelets complete the upper. Red, blue, yellow, and green detailing highlights various sections across the upper. A "spoiler" extending from the heel for additional stability is another unique feature on the adidas Racing 1 Prototype.
