The Nike Air Force Max CB Leather “Gym Red” is an attention-seeking colorway of Charles Barkley’s former signature basketball shoe that shows love to the Houston Rockets. After playing for both the Philadelphia 76ers and Phoenix Suns, Barkley finished his Hall of Fame playing career with the Rockets in the early 2000s. The team’s red-and-navy team uniform colors at the time inspired this retro basketball shoe. The upper is cast in a bold Gym Red hue, including the synthetic leather base and the synthetic nubuck criss-cross lockdown straps on the midfoot. A navy Swoosh appears on both sides and white “Nike Air” embroidery can be found on the Gym Red tongue. White “Nike” detailing appears on the black synthetic heel counter and embroidered “Air” branding can be found on the heel. Barkley’s number “4” jersey number with the Rockets graces the back of the nylon pull tabs, and the white pinstripes on the heel reference the Rockets uniforms of the late-90s.
