The Jah Jah x Salomon ACS Pro "Kankourang" is a collaboration by the Paris-based restaurant and Salomon on the lifestyle sneaker. Located in Paris’s 10 arrondissement, Jah Jah was founded in 2017 as a restaurant that not only serves Caribbean and African dishes, but brings community together, as well. Jah Jah’s first sneaker project with Salomon occurs on the ACS Pro, and is inspired by the tale of “Kankourang,” an initiatory rite practiced in Senegal, Gambia, and Guinea-Bissau. The key figure to the Kankourang serves as guardian of ancestral customs and traditions and maintaining social order and communal unity. Jah Jah’s ACS Pro is designed in “Chocolate,” “Black,” and “High Risk Red,” the colors prevalent in Yoff, the coastal commune in Dakar where the collaboration's campaign was shot.
