Go Skate Day: Our Favorite Skate Sneakers Right Now

Celebrate skateboarding’s annual event with these popular skate-inspired styles.

Matt DeSciora

Skateboarding’s popularity isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Not only will the sport be making its second appearance at the Olympics this summer, this time in Paris, but today, skateboarding is celebrating its 20th Go Skate Day, a worldwide event that encourages people of all skill levels to go outside and skate.

Since forming in 2004, Go Skate Day has become one of the most significant platforms for skateboarding, as it promotes the positive aspects of the sport, including individual expression and community. Go Skate Day has also raised awareness for local skate shops, who play a role in encouraging people to explore skateboarding, and skate footwear, one of the most important aspects of skateboarding.

While we can’t necessarily teach you how to skate, we can hook you up with a sweet pair of skate sneakers in celebration of Go Skate Day. From Nike SB to Air Jordan SB, we have a wide range of the best and most popular skate shoes in the game today.

Before you hit the streets on Go Skate Day, check out some of our favorite skate sneakers.

Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 “Pine Green”

The Air Jordan 1 isn’t the only classic Jordan shoe with ties to skateboarding. The Air Jordan 4 was also worn by skaters when it debuted way back in the 1980s, and more recently, the retro basketball sneaker officially joined the skate footwear world when Nike SB and Jordan Brand collaborated on the Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 “Pine Green.” The colorway has been a favorite of a new generation of skaters ever since its release.

Supreme x Nike SB Blazer Mid “Black”

Another former basketball shoe that has made the transition to skateboarding is the Nike SB Blazer. The Blazer has had a great impact on the skate community thanks to collaborations like Supreme’s Nike SB Blazer Mid collection from 2022. (Supreme also released a collaboration with Nike SB on the Blazer in the 2000s that is highly regarded.)

Futura Laboratories x Nike SB Dunk Low “Bleached Aqua”

A list of the best skate shoes wouldn’t be complete without the Nike SB Dunk. Universally regarded as one of the greatest, if not the greatest skate shoes ever, the SB Dunk has set the standard for modern skate sneaker hype dating back to its debut in 2002. In 2024, the SB Dunk is still as popular as ever, and still involved in big name collaborations. See Futura Laboratories’ new SB Dunk Low “Bleached Aqua” as proof.

Nike SB Dunk High “Lucky 7s”

While recent releases made up our first three selections, for our last pick, we’re showing love to an old school favorite: the Nike SB Dunk High “Lucky 7.” Released next to the “Unlucky” SB Dunk High in 2004, the two colorways are inspired by, according to Nike SB, “the two sides of fortune and how they are dependent on each other to coexist.” Beyond that, only 777 pairs of the “Lucky” SB Dunk were made, making it one of the rarest SB Dunks of all time.

Nike SB Dunk Low “Trocadero Gardens”

Summer style? Check. Skate-ready performance? Check. What more do you need in a skate shoe? The Nike SB Dunk Low “Trocadero Gardens” is perfect for those looking to skate in style this summer.
