Anniversaries are not taken lightly by Jordan Brand. The latest example of the brand celebrating the birth year of one of its legendary sneakers is coming in the form of the Air Jordan 4 “Bred Reimagined” this February in honor of the original colorway’s 35th year in existence.

An alternate take on the Jordan 4’s original “Bred” colorway, the “Bred Reimagined” updates its predecessor’s design with a new buttery leather build. The rest of the “Bred Reimagined” pays homage to the OG “Bred” in the best of ways, specifically with colors, panels, and an overall shape design that’s consistent with the ‘89 release. All told, the new Jordan 4 “Bred Reimagined” is one of the best and most anticipated releases of 2024 thus far.

Earmarked for an NBA All-Star Weekend drop on February 17th, the Jordan 4 “Bred Reimagined” also celebrates Michael Jordan’s 61st birthday because, well, Jordan’s birthday is on February 17th. The combination of an All-Star Weekend and MJ birthday release has sneaker collectors clamoring for the model. That and the fact that the “Bred Reimagined” is also the first Jordan 4 “Bred” release since 2019.

The “Bred Reimagined” builds on the 2019 “Bred” with the same “Nike Air” branding on the heel, Jumpman and “Flight” detailing on the tongue, and Cement Grey accents, among other features. But a side-by-side comparison of the “Bred Reimagined” and ‘19 “Bred” (and subsequent “Bred” releases before the 2019 release) are noticeably different in terms of build material and overall shape. As mentioned, the “Bred Reimagined” has a leather upper where the ‘19 “Bred” has a nubuck design. The “Bred Reimagined” has a more rounded toe and lower profile compared to the slightly more bulky toe design of the ‘19 “Bred.”

The changes are noticeable, but they don’t take away from the 2019 Jordan 4 “Bred” or any other retro version of the colorway. In the end, the styling of the shoe is a matter of personal preference, as all Jordan 4 “Bred” retros are damn good in their own regard.

In releasing the Air Jordan 4 “Bred Reimagined,” Jordan Brand continues to build its collection of “Reimagined” colorways, which includes the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Lost & Found,” Air Jordan 3 “White Cement Reimagined,” and the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Royal Reimagined.”
